There is a consequence for everything. Every thought we have, every word we speak, every one of our actions has a consequence. Sin is disobedience and rebellion against God’s perfect will for us.
So what is the consequence of sin? The Bible teaches us “For the wages of sin is death. Romans 6:23″ Sin ultimately leads to our complete separation from God which is spiritual death. That is what Hell is, an existence completely separate from God and as God is the source of every good thing (love, peace, joy, meaning, purpose, community, well being etc.) there is literally nothing good about Hell. In this life sin also causes harm to ourselves and others. It robs us of our peace and joy. It can make us feel guilty and shameful, lost and without hope. Or we may be disillusioned thinking all is well, but when we die we will face the full consequence of our sin and that disillusionment will be terribly shattered.
Let me make this clear. We are ALL going to Hell. Every single one of us. No matter how much good we think we do it never matches up to God’s standards. The Bible says “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. Romans 3:23” and elsewhere “All of us have become like one who is unclean, and all our righteous acts are like filthy rags; we all shrivel up like a leaf, and like the wind our sins sweep us away. Isiah 64:6”
We ALL desperately need to be saved, we ALL need a way to take us back to God. We All need God’s love and forgiveness. There is a dangerous belief that there are may ways to God. That is an evil deception the truth is There is Only One Way back to God. Jesus Christ is the Only Way! All religions, theologies, philosophies, self help books apart from Jesus can’t help us. At their core they’re centred on us and what we need to. Prayer five times a day, go on a pilgrimage, align your chakras, meditate until you reach Nirvana, refrain from all earthly pleasures, do this, do that. But as sin is part of our nature, anything we do can never be good enough for God. All of our good acts apart from Jesus is like a filthy rag to God. All what we think is good is corrupted by Sin.
There is only one way! Jesus Christ is the only way! Jesus Christ came into the world as fully God and fully man ( it’s a mystery which needs its own space) and as He was fully God he was able to lead the perfect human live completely without sin. And as he was completely without sin himself he was able to pay the price for all of our sins. He was nailed to the Cross, took all ours sins upon Himself, died paying the price for all our sins and in three days He rose from the dead defeating sin and death forever!
What is the consequence of believing in Jesus? “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 6:23” “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16”
Nothing less than freedom from sin and eternal life with an awesome, amazing, loving, just, kind, gracious and compassionate God.
